Calibration and maintenance

A detector that is not calibrated, not tested and not documented is not a safety measure. Calibration and maintenance are the part of the contract that keeps the installation worth what it cost.

How we work

What this service covers

For portable fleets the practical answer is automation: an IntelliDox™ or AutoRAE 2 docking station performs the bump test and calibration and records the result, so the compliance evidence is produced by the process rather than by someone remembering to fill in a form. We size, install and configure that, and keep the test gas supply planned against actual consumption — an empty cylinder is the most common reason a calibration routine quietly stops.

For fixed installations, maintenance means scheduled calibration with test gas, sensor replacement at the end of sensor life, functional testing of the alarm chain including the outputs, and alignment checks where open path detectors are installed. The interval follows the manufacturer's documentation and the operator's risk assessment; we agree it in writing rather than assuming it.

We service Honeywell equipment regardless of where it was originally purchased.

Scope of supply

  • Calibration and bump testing of portable and fixed Honeywell gas detection
  • Docking station setup with IntelliDox™ and AutoRAE 2
  • Sensor, filter and battery replacement
  • Functional testing of the complete alarm chain
  • Alignment checks for open path detectors
  • Test gas supply planned against consumption
  • Service for equipment not originally purchased from us

Where our scope ends

  • We do not issue statutory inspection certificates that are reserved to an approved body.
  • Intervals follow the manufacturer's documentation and your risk assessment; we advise but do not overrule it.
  • Devices beyond manufacturer support are identified as such, with a replacement proposal instead of a repair.

Sequence

How a project runs

1 · Inventory

What is installed, which devices, which sensors, what are the current intervals and what documentation exists today.

2 · Interval and routine

Agreed intervals per device group, docking concept for portable fleets, test gas requirement and the shape of the documentation.

3 · Execution

Calibration and bump testing on site or at our workshop, sensor replacement, functional testing of the alarm chain, alignment checks for open path detectors.

4 · Documentation

Records per device, exception list of what failed and what was replaced, and the consumables forecast for the coming period.

FAQ

Questions about Calibration and maintenance

How often does a gas detector have to be calibrated?

The interval comes from the instrument documentation and from your own risk assessment, not from a universal number. Where a device protects against an acute hazard, many operators bump test before each use and calibrate at the interval stated in the manual. We set the interval with you and then keep to it.

Do you service detectors we bought elsewhere?

Yes, for Honeywell equipment. Tell us the device types and quantities and we will propose an interval, a routine and a documentation format.

What happens if a device fails the test?

It is taken out of service, the failure is recorded, and you get it back repaired or replaced. The point of the exception list is that a failed instrument cannot silently return to the shelf.
